No new projects for a few days...

Hello friends,

Just wanted to drop a note that I will not be posting any projects for a few days.  My daughter is in the hospital and we are not sure how much longer she will be in there.  Hopefully she will get to come home tomorrow.  :)

She has Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)  Here is a link if you want to know more about it:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001562/

Her platelets count was down to 1000 yesterday.  Normal is about 1.5 million.  Her blood wasn't coagulating and she has bruising and petechiae all over her body.  She feels fine, just tired and she needs to be monitored for bleeding.  She had this when she was 3, she is now 20.

Today her counts were up to 6000.  :)  While good, not sufficient enough.  She just got off the IV's and they will monitor progress without the steroids and immune globulin to see if it is still progressing upwards.  We should know more tomorrow.

Hugs,

  1. Not good! So sorry to hear about this. Your daughter will certainly be in my prayers. I didn't take the time right now to read the article that you linked about ITP, is this something that she will always have occurrences of from time to time? Hope she's home soon.

  9. Terri,

I came here to thank you for your very encouraging comment re: my vertigo treatment. When I came here and read what you were going through with your daughter, I was even more touched that given the crisis going on in your life, you would take the time to encourage me. Thank you SO much, I really do appreciate your kind words.
I hope your daughter continues to improve quickly. I will definitely keep her and the rest of your family in my thoughts and prayers.
