A lavender sachet for bridal shower favor...

Hello again crafty friends!

A friend of mine asked me if I would help her come up with some ideas for a bridal shower she was giving.  I sent her a few ideas and since the bride to be is a very crafty person and loves to quilt, we came up with this cute little sachet idea.  I found this pin cushion on Pinterest and thought what a cute sachet it would make.

Uh oh...problem.  We wanted lavender, and lavender season wasn't until the week after the shower.  Problem solved...I Googled alternative ideas and one of the sites I visited suggested soaking cotton balls with lavender essential oil.  Yay!  I put a bag of cotton balls into a zip lock bag and added the oil.  Lot's of oil.  :)  My house smelled so good.  LOL!  Anyway, I let it set for a couple of weeks because I wanted to see how long the scent would last.  Well, it lasts...that's for sure.  This was loads cheaper than buying dry lavender and a lot softer.

I found these really cute fat quarter packs at Joann's that had all the colors coordinated already.  They were on sale for around $6.00 and I used my 40% off coupon.  Saweet!  Then I also got a bag of poly fill and a bag of coordinating buttons (all different colors and sizes).  On sale of course!

All in all. 40 sachets for under $20.00.  Woo Hoo!

The brides soon to be mother in law, and my friends had a taste testing for the cupcakes (lavender with champagne icing), and sewing day at my Besties house.  She made us quite the lunch, Yummm, and we got to work.  My friends daughter wanted to learn how to sew on a machine so I put her to work right away.  I am not above child labor.  LOL!  JK!

I have to say it did take my bestie and I an extra day (or two?) to finish these up...but check out our results.  They were quite the hit at the shower, and fit the brides personality perfectly.

I can't wait until the wedding.  It is going to be a girl trip to the wedding destination.  :)
