Bridesmaid invites and flip flop boxes...

Hello Crafty Friends!

You just never know how wonderful people will come into your life.  Ally found me on fb!!!  She saw the boxes I had made for a bridal shower gift I did quite awhile ago, and asked if I could make some for her. (You can find the post and credits here.)  So, I made these cutie flip flop boxes for  the lovely Bride-to-Be for her to present to her friends and ask them to be her maid of honor, bridesmaids and Jr. bridesmaids.  I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Some of the girls got shot glasses with little bottles of their favorite booze and others (under 21) got perfume.  I loved this idea and was so glad I could help her out.  I love how her and her friends roll!

Popcorn box for baby shower favor

Hello Crafty Friends!

Not enough hours in the day these last months to keep up with the blog, but I have been having a wonderful time with my family and friends.  At least I have been taking pics of all the projects I've done, so I will share one at a time so as not to overwhelm you.  LOL!  ;)

I made these pop corn boxes for a baby shower favor.  I love how they turned out.  Got to love double sided card stock.  I used the box from the Summer Blockbuster SVG Kit from SVGCuts.com and the pregnant lady is from the New Arrival Cricut Cartridge.  I printed Ready to Pop using Word on card stock and then used my circle punch to cut them out.

The mom to be, Lily, put caramel corn wrapped in cellophane and tied them up with a ribbon inside and gave them as favors.  :)

My son needs the computer now, so I will try to get back soon to post some more projects.  I hate having one computer.  UGH!

My first Purse SVG!!

Hello Crafty Friends!!!

I am so excited!!! I created my first purse SVG!!!!  I wanted to make a friend a purse to put cash in from my bestie and I, so she could by herself one of those Miche` covers.  I thought a purse would be sooo appropriate.

I started looking around the internet for a already made one, but only found some flat ones.  I saw some that were similarly shaped but they were hand cut out templates.  I am horrible at hand cutting, so I thought...I can probably just weld some shapes together on my SCAL2 software to get the effect I was looking for, and Voila!!!!

I still need to figure out that whole score line thingy, but I was in a rush to get it finished.  It took me quite a few hours to figure this out.  LOL!  Baby steps! I just used my MS score board to score all the fold lines.

I got some inspiration from a purse I saw online that scored the lines to give it a puffy effect.  Love it!

One of the ladies at the birthday party said she sees these in store for $8.00!!!  What!?

Some tips:

I used floral rivets for the handle and applied them loosely so you can still rotate the handle.  I put a little brad to fill up the hole.  I used a button that I cut off the shank for the faux closer.  (There is a little hook and loop piece that I used with glue dots.)  I attached a little tag to make it look authentic.  ;)  I also used 2 sided dp so it looks like lining on the inside.

I tried to make a little wallet for the inside but it turned out too big.  So I decorated a scrap of the vanilla paper with a little strip of the dp and that is where we wrote out our happy birthday wishes. Looks like another project to create. ;)

Hello Crafty Friends!

Have you ever gotten the "Mommy, could make these for me to give as gifts for my teacher friends?" line??  LOL!

I did, and well...I did.  :)  How can you say no to them darn kids?  No matter how old they get.  LOL!

I did make her help though.  (Of course she had laundry to do, so she was going to be here anyways.)

Challenge Week 4 at The Paper Dolls

Hello Friends!

I know I haven't entered a challenge in a while, but when I saw this one today over at The Paper Dolls I just had to.  As soon as I saw this fabulous Flip Flop Box .svg file from Eleanor over at the SVGShop, well I had the perfect idea in mind.

I immediately thought of those bride and groom flip flops that you can get at most wedding shops that have the words on the bottom of the shoe, so when you walk on the sand it leaves the imprint Bride/Groom.  So I played around a little with my SCAL2 and came up with this for a bridal shower gift.  (You could totally make a combo Bride/Groom gift and make one in black and put Groom on the bottom of the sole.  Make them a left and a right.)  :)  Just an idea. hehe You know I always have ideas.

See how I stamped Congratulations to look like
a shoe manufacturer logo.  :)

I embossed the straps and added a flower spritzed
with a sparkly mist and added a rhinestone to the
center of the flower.

I used a Sizzix embossing folder to run the bottom
sole through after I put cut out the word Bride
with my SCAL2.  (hint: make sure you layout the
word correctly to go with the shoe direction.)  hehe
Took me 2 tries to figure this out.  LOL

Wedding Card Holder...

Hello everyone!

I have a fun project, that I was asked to do by a friend that is getting married in September,  the other day, and it was a challenge for me.  I had never seen or  heard of one of these before, but what a GREAT idea.  :)

A wedding card holder for the gift table that looks like a cake.  :)  AWESOME idea!

Since I don't have the means to make a video tutorial, I thought I would just do a step by step with pics.  (You might have to use your imagination for some of it.)  hehe

Here it is in a nutshell.

Step: 1

I purchased 2 (3 pack) paper mache 

rectangle boxes in 2 sizes and then

I alternated them by every other one to make a set.

( I am sure this is confusing {It is to me} LOL.  But when you see the

staggered sizes you can see the contrast in size.)

And i used regular wedding wrapping paper in ivory.  You could use any 

print.  Or make it for any occasion.  Possibilities are 

endless. (Yes, I know how you crafter's think!  LOL)

Step 2:

I wrapped the lid to the biggest box.  This is going to be

the base at the bottom.

Here is the backsside.

Step 3:

I wrapped a piece of thin cardboard to make the bottom

liner inside the lid.

Step 4:

I double sided taped the liner to the inside

of the lid. (Which is the base.)

Step 5:

I took the middle box and centered it onto the bigger

box and drew a line around.  With a straight edge box cutter

I cut inside the line about a 1/4 to 1/2 an inch.

Step 6:

I cut a slit in the side of the medium size box at about

5/8 inch x 6 inches (card slot)

Step 7:

Wrapped the large box folding excess in and taping on the inside. And insert

this into the lid (base)  Do not glue or secure this

in the base as you will need to open later

to get out the cards.  :)

Step 8:

Wrapped middle box like you would a present just be sure to 

fold into the bottom edges and tape on the inside.

(Sorry I forgot to take pics of this

step.)

Step 9:

Since one of the main colors of the wedding is black I 

cut out a rectangle of black paper using my SCAL2 with the 

measurements of 1 1/2 x 7 inches on the outside

and 5/8 x 6 inches on the inside.  Merged them and then 

cut. Then I ran through the Xyron and 

adhered to the front of the card slot opening.

Step 10:

Glued the middle to the bottom.

 Step 11:

Wrapped the small box and glued to the top.  

Step 12:

Added ribbon around the bases of each layer.  I attached them

to the front side so that they could be covered with flowers etc.

And then tied it all together with a larger ribbon to hold the bottom lid securely

to the top.  (This is so you can easily get into it when

you are ready to open those cards.)  

Here it is plain without decoration.  The bride is going to pick
out the flowers of her choice and adhere or may even have the
florist add extra flowers from the wedding to it.  :)
You can do pretty much anything you want.  

I added some roses just to see what it would

look like.  I thought a swag through the bottom layer.

(I didn't want to permanently put anything on as she is going

to do different flowers.)

I could even envision putting a monogram in the center of the bottom box. Or textured

paper etc etc etc.  

You could do a round or a square shape as well.  The round shape was a little daunting to me so I stuck with the rectangle.  I do know how to wrap a present.  haha

Well I hope you enjoyed my not so professional tutorial.  haha

Scraps and things...

Hello followers,

Today I wanted to get rid of a few leftover papers.  I had been thinking about weaving some scraps and then, well, didn't know what to do after that.  :)  So today I just started winging it and came up with this little valentine I could give to one of my loved ones.  (Can't say "who" yet.)  hehe

And then I came across these little gift bag boxes in my stash and thought I really should make a little gifty for my little ones (nieces and nephews).  I saw something similar on one of the blogs I was reading today (and I apologize for not acknowledging who, if anyone knows please let me know, I went back through my reader and couldn't find it, sorry.)  and thought I could decorate and put a few little goodies in them.

Now I have to go get the goodies and some shreddy red paper.  LOL!  Just when I was trying not to have anymore candy around here.  LOL!

Bag #2

Today between running all over town I managed to finish 4 bags that I cut out the day before.

I again, up all night with ideas, decided to embellish them with paper ribbon and bows.  I had this great idea to make a ribbon .svg cut using my inkscape.  I fidgeted around with some ideas and then I was checking out my blog reader and saw this post from one of my favorite sites SVGCuts.com, where I have downloaded for free (as well as purchased) a lot of there files.  One of their design team members, Thienly Azim, made a beautiful paper ornament out of, guess what?, Rosie's Ribbon Strips, from, SVGCuts.com.  :)  So I went to their site and purchased the files.  Lot's of ribbon patterns to choose from.  Made my life so much easier as they had the exact style cut I was looking for.  Well, except that it was only one sided.  So with my Sure Cuts A Lot 2 software, I cut and paste, flipped and learned to weld.  Perfect, just what was in my head all night last night.  :)  I really love their site.  Here is the link to Thienly Azim's blog: modpaperie.blogspot.com to check out the ornament.  And you can check out SVGCuts.com for their Rosie's Ribbon Strips file.  Oh yeah, and the bag and bow came from their Christmas Gift Bags and Boxes for the bow and Big Boutique Boxes for the bag.

Christmas bags

Once again, I have not worked on my Christmas cards.  What is the deal?!  Well, I'll tell ya...I have been making a Christmas bag with my SCAL2 from SVGCuts.com.  I saw this bag on a little tutorial Mary did with her .svg file from Big Boutique Boxes and a snowflake from Winter Bliss.  It took me a while just because I couldn't find any matching ribbon to go with my paper etc etc.  :)  But now that I have picked out some choices I am ready to make some more.  I will post some pics later, but her is a sample:
